Buy new: $42.00 We got so much mileage out of this one. He loved to hang out in it as a newborn, especially with the vibrations turned on. Sometimes he would just fall asleep in there. Around 3 months, we added the toy bar and he was delighted. They were the first toys he reached for with his little developing hands, and even now (at 20 months) he likes to stand in front of it and play with them.

As mentioned by some of the reviewers, the car seat does not actually snap in. That seems to be part of the design, in order to make it "universal". This wasn't a problem for us, because the straps held the seat on tightly enough, and we never took it over rough terrain so I wasn't really worried about the seat falling off. If it seems unsecure, you can always add a bungee cord.

Buy new: $129.99 Since our boy wasn't colicky, we actually didn't need our swing that much, but they're incredibly useful for fussy babies. This one swings in 2 different directions and has lots of settings for music & other soothing sounds. Takes up a big footprint in the room, though, so allow some space for it.

Buy new: $31.88 This is an essential item for soothing & sleeping in the first few months. We used them until he was about 4 months old. I would have kept him in longer, but he just outgrew them.

Buy new: $44.95 This is a lifesaver in the first few months. You could get by just with this, or you could also buy a bjorn. I never needed one. Our boy spent hours every day in this, attached to one of us, walking inside, outside, and even sometimes slept in it at night while we stretched out on the sofa.

These Tiny Love mobiles are kind of ugly, but they are award-winning for good reason. He loved it as a baby and would hang out in his crib staring at it and reaching for the animals. It plays classical music and spins around. The only downside is that it does burn through batteries, but I thought it was worth it.
