These are nice and thin and aren't the best for soaking up big messes but they are lightweight enough that they are easier to carry around and just have on hand. My daughter also really likes to play with them and they are soft on her hands and not so bulky. (Also small enough that she can't easily cover her face and suffocate)

From the driver's seat you can see the baby's face to see whether she's crying or sleeping or playing. From the passenger seat you can just turn around to see what she's doing and find the pacifier, etc. She also really likes seeing herself in it and it keeps her busy in the car.
