By an Amazon.com customer
American PieAmerican Pie by Don Mclean
Buy new: $9.48 / Used from: $3.24
30. Although it's only really known for the title track, this is a fantastic folk album. Don McLean has a beautiful style of lyrics and guitar. He's a greatly underrated muscian.
Born in the U.S.A.Born in the U.S.A. by Bruce Springsteen
Buy new: $8.54 / Used from: $2.05
29. A great rocker. Bruce Springsteen found yet another image. It's the best political album of the 80s.In fact it's just the best album of the 80s. Springsteen is a genius and a hero to music. One of the best!
Who Sell OutWho Sell Out by Who
Buy new: $7.58 / Used from: $2.81
28 Pete Townsend's best concept album because it's not too serious. It's funny. I Can See For Miles is the Who's best song. It's nice see Townsend's sense of humor. I think it's better than Tommy.
Music From Big PinkMusic From Big Pink by The Band
Buy new: $12.21 / Used from: $3.50
27 While the rest of the music world was making psychedelic rock in 1967, The Band made one of the most simple, wonderful albums of all time. The music is great, the lyrics are great. The Weight is one of the best songs ever.
Sticky FingersSticky Fingers by Rolling Stones
Buy new: $10.50 / Used from: $5.83
26The Stones once again prove they are the best rock and roll band in the world. This is simply great rock and roll. The adding of horns to the music only helps. A great ride in rock and roll.
Darkness on the Edge of TownDarkness on the Edge of Town by Bruce Springsteen
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $3.42
25Bruce Springsteen follows his best album with this darker, more adult, but just as powerful album. Born to Run was a polished gem, but this is a raw one. It's really worth your time and money.
Velvet Underground & NicoVelvet Underground & Nico by Velvet Underground
Buy new: $4.99 / Used from: $1.46
24 This might be the most influental album ever. This album is daring because it's songs are mainly about sex and drugs.Lou Reed took a great risk in 1966 by writing these controversial songs. But they were all great.
Electric LadylandElectric Ladyland by The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Buy used from: $4.49
23 Jimi Hendrix puts aside rock and blues for this one. Now we see Jimi's take on soul, fusion, and more. It's the best experimental rock album.
NevermindNevermind by Nirvana
Buy used from: $0.97
22 The greatest grunge album ever. This found a new sound for rock.Raw,filthy, gritty, but amazing.Kurt Cobain had a unique style of writing. It's no wonder why he is still a major influence on teenage youth.
Bridge over Troubled WaterBridge over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $2.65
21 Paul Simon at his peak. This is easily Simon and Garfunkel's best. Simon is at his lyrical peak. It seems that S&G always had great songs, but couldn't put together a perfect album. Here they proved they could.
Mr Tambourine ManMr Tambourine Man by Byrds
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $2.92
20 The Byrd's first and best album. What got the attention was the electric Dylan covers, but the whole album is strong. The orignal songs a terrific. So is the album.
The White Album (Remastered)The White Album (Remastered) by The Beatles
Buy new: $18.89 / Used from: $11.99
19This probably been better as on disc, but it's still a marvel. This contains some of their best(Happiness is a Warm Gun, While My Guitar Gently Weeps) and their worst (Wild Honey Pie, Reveloution 9). But it is no doubt a classic.
Freewheelin Bob Dylan (Reis)Freewheelin Bob Dylan (Reis) by Bob Dylan
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $4.30
18This is the best protest album ever. But the love ballads are beautiful, and the non-sense songs are wildly funny. This is what rightfully made Dylan famous. This is phenomenal writing for a 21 year old. But, then again, Bob Dylan is the best lyricist of all-time.
Bringing It All Back Home (Reis)Bringing It All Back Home (Reis) by Bob Dylan
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $4.59
17 This is when Bob Dylan first went electric. The electric songs are hilarous and show yet another side of Bob Dylan. But the album's strongest parts are the acoustic songs. This is Dylan's acoustic peak. The lyrics are beautiful.
Let It BleedLet It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $6.31
16 What a great rock and roll album. It changes from raw to polished constantly. Every second is great. It was the greast opening and closing for any album (Gimme Shelter/You Can't Always Get What You Want). The rest is excellent too.
Blood on the Tracks (Reis)Blood on the Tracks (Reis) by Bob Dylan
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $6.57
15. Dylan's comeback is nothing short of a masterpiece. He returns to folk and creates some of the most painful, yearning songs about heart break. And he writes in words that only he could think. He's a genius.
What's Going OnWhat's Going On by Marvin Gaye
Buy new: $6.09 / Used from: $1.99
14. This album proved that Motown and R&B singers could release more than just singles. Marvin Gaye wrote beautiful soul ballads that were painful, but still great. He started a new path for soul singers.
Dark Side of the MoonDark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd
Buy used from: $1.70
13. An amazing blend of hard guitar riffs and mellow keyboards. The lyrics are haunting. The sounds effects are pretty cool. The Wizard of Oz rumors are true. If you sync them it's a bizarre, creepy experience. All great, no filler.
Are You ExperiencedAre You Experienced by The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Buy used from: $6.77
12. The best first album for a musician. Jimi Hendrix delivers a marvolous mix between blues and hard rock. He writes in a style that was new to music. And the guitar playing is what got him his name as the greatest guitarist of all time. Purple Haze is the best rocker ever.
Revolver (Remastered)Revolver (Remastered) by The Beatles
Buy new: $15.51 / Used from: $9.00
11. This is usually seen as the greatest album of all time. I disagree, but it still amazes me whenever I hear it. The Beatles write some of their prettiest, and some of their most rocking. Besides Yellow Submarine and Love You Too, every song hear is a classic.
Blonde on Blonde (Reis)Blonde on Blonde (Reis) by Bob Dylan
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $7.98
10. Bob Dylan at his most imaginative lyrical phase. This is as close to pyshedelia as he ever got, and what a knock out it turns to out to be. It never gets old. He makes some of his strongest work on this disc.
Odessey and OracleOdessey and Oracle by The Zombies
Buy new: $14.78 / Used from: $6.37
9. This is the most underrated album ever. The Zombies didn't get a fair chance. They released this marvel and no one listened to it. Every song (except for maybe "Changes")is worth your time. It's all wonderful. The album cover is also awesome. It represents the album well.
Exile on Main StreetExile on Main Street by Rolling Stones
Buy new: $18.74 / Used from: $9.78
8. The Rolling Stones make the grittiest album ever. It ends up being their masterpiece. This is the true definition of rock and roll, and it's a thrill.
Pet SoundsPet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $3.97
7. This is the essential Beach Boys album. It's not about surfing or fast cars. It's about true emotion. Brian Wilson wrote this album and showed the world he wasn't a Boy, he was a man.
Rubber Soul (Remastered)Rubber Soul (Remastered) by The Beatles
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $7.49
6. This is what fueled Pet Sounds because like Brian Wilson, Lennon and McCartney wanted to be seen as deep men. Some of their most mature and realistic music is right here. In My Life is the best song ever. It's everything the Beatles did best
Born to RunBorn to Run by Bruce Springsteen
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $2.86
5. Bruce Springsteen's masterpiece. There is no weak tracks here. It contains all the anthems of being trapped in a place you don't belong. It has his best, Thunder Road, but every song here is essential. It proves he's a master songwriter
Highway 61 Revisited (Reis)Highway 61 Revisited (Reis) by Bob Dylan
Buy new: $6.55 / Used from: $3.30
4. Angry lyrics, grinding oragans, riffing guitars, hateful vocals. This is his magnum opus. Like a Rolling Stone is his best. It's on the right album
Who's NextWho's Next by Who
Buy new: $9.60 / Used from: $4.57
3. Pete Townsend was the first person to not use a sythesizer like it was a toy and use it like it was an instrument. Townsend, Daultrey, Entwistle, and Moon are at their peak. This lives up to the hype.
Abbey Road (Remastered)Abbey Road (Remastered) by The Beatles
Buy new: $13.82 / Used from: $7.53
2. The Beatles had just about had it in 1969. It is literally a miracle that they didn't call it quits before this. It's a majestic ride from the funky bass of Come Together to whismy of The End. Octpus's Garden is awful and it's too bad they ened with Her Majesty, but it doesn't matter. It's still amazing.
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Remastered)Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Remastered) by The Beatles
Buy new: $13.88 / Used from: $8.00
1. The Holy Grail of albums. From the chatter of the title track to the studio nonsense of the grand finale,A Day in the Life, nothing should be changed. It's amazing just as it is. As good as music will ever get.
